< style="margin: 0;">Widow Jane doesn’t distill this one, and doesn’t pretend to. The Red Hook team buys finished straight bourbon from undisclosed houses in Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana, marries five barrels at a time, and proofs the blend with limestone mineral water from the Widow Jane mine in Rosendale — the quarry that supplied stone for the Brooklyn Bridge.
Five barrels is a small enough batch that bottles differ; the batch number on the label is worth noting if you find one you like. Ten years in charred oak, non-chill filtered, 91 proof — the moderate strength lets the age show without the oak going dry. Beverage Testing Institute 93 pts.
